My work spans a period of over 20 years, and engages with the phenomenology of bodies and spaces and the narratives embodied in bodies and spaces. I work from the body as a sensory machine situated into different environments (physical, social, political, theoretical and conceptual), as both stimulus, method and record. Listening to place and learning from place.

My practice shifted from being an exposition of practice to an investigative process, using body, material, technology and method to uncover and expose embedded and imagined narratives of place. These have ranged from solitary explorations of landscapes in deserts through to public works in major Cities.

Latterly this practice has translated my practice towards a participatory environmental design methodology working with different organisations using structured, interactive approaches to engaging individuals and communities, collectively creating new knowledges and narratives. This has taken the following forms:

  • explorations into learning and pedagogy (from pre-school to PhD)
  • community engagement through interactive events
  • place and landscape based consultation

The collections listed reflect key concerns in my work usually related to the environmental context of the work (Landscape, Cityscape, Waterscape), which reflect my practice of listening to place and learning from place. There are also the errant and capricious projects, made for convenience and joy.
