no shadow but mine own (New Mexico, 2012)

An object is defined as something which casts a shadow. This work continues my performance investigation of the landscape economies of salt and water on a dried up salt lake in the scrub desert of New Mexico. Beginning with an act of violence and the removal of other shadow makers from the constructed view of the landscape, the work then becomes an act of inscription into the baked salt skin of the lake.
